The Game of Bingo Is Changing

Posted on Monday 18 May 2009

Traditionally, bingo is a game enjoyed by women, most often of the - shall we say - more mature variety. Now, however, with the emergence of online bingo, this most friendly of online gambling games is attracting a whole new, younger audience.

Due to the financial mood, a lot of the old land-based bingo clubs - such as those owned by Mecca and Gala Bingo - have been closing down but those players still want somewhere to play. And so, more and more of them are coming online.

Plus, the social chit-chat aspect of bingo has translated very well to the online arena, which means that younger players are starting to play the game online. Strangely, bingo is one of those gambling games where winning is not what it’s really all about. Chatting and getting to know people, and, indeed, making new friends are all considered just as important to the average bingo fan.

Even better, the stigma that bingo is just a pastime for old women is fading fast and more and more men are starting to enjoy the game.

While the jackpots and prizes aren’t in the same league as casino gambling, the social aspect of playing online bingo more than makes up for it. So if you haven’t yet tried online bingo, now is the time to give it a go. Don’t be apprehensive, you may just enjoy it.
