Being a “super achiever” I have come to value action, movement, and a busy
pace. However, I have personally learned that continually moving at a rapid pace can lead to a level of disconnect from
what is truly important.
There was a time when I would have
been very likley to said to myself or
someone else, “Don’t just sit there, do something”.
Today I am more likely to say to myself
or someone else, “Don’t just do something, sit there”.
I have come to know that that having
moments of stillness and silence is
absolutely crucial to my level of peace
and well being.
I have found that being still and
silent is a bit of a lost art.
You may wonder, “what is the value of sitting still
and silent?”
I am glad you asked.
Learning to tolerate silence allows
you to move into your interior being.
Moving into your interior being allows
you to connect with what is essential
in life.
Moving into your interior being allows
you to connect with your Life’s Purpose.
It allows you to transcend fear.
Going inside and being silent allows
you to…
Value mystery.
Value being.
Being quite allows you to hear God’s
voice.
You see, in the fast paced world we
live in, it is so easy to get disconnected
from yourself, others and what is most
important to you.
With excess chatter in your mind,
you will be more likely to blame others
when you have a problem.
In stillness you are called to take personal
responsibility.
Stillness leads to renewal.
Being still and silent helps you realize that
all you have is this moment.
In silence you can connect with important
personal truths.
Some of them for me include…
There is no holy place.
There is no sacred time.
There is no beauty or ugliness.
Develop the ritual of silence.
Begin the day in silence.
End the day in silence.
Silence increases maturity.
Silence increases wisdom.
Silence fosters tranquility.
Embrace stillness.
Get quiet and connect with the
harmony and rhythm of life.
When you immerse yourself in silence
you connect with your inner purity.
Being silent allows you to face yourself.
Being still and silent is an art.
Foster the art.
Cultivate the art.
Carry it with you.
